Trying to make games work in Kodi. Not succeeding.
Yike, OK.  I will probably leave it alone, then, cz I don't want to/don't know how to root an Android TV, that seems like going too far for me.  (Not that you were suggesting that.)  I will play a few more Colecovision games and try to stay away from the Home button and see how it goes.  It's possible that we're done, I was able to play some solid games without the controller screwing up, which was what I was after from the beginning.

So Kodi lets you remap controller keys to play the game but the Home button in particular for some reason isn't remappable?

It seems like there were settings to let you choose how Kodi makes the game menu appear, but I don't remember off the top of my head.  I will search around and see if I can find anything.

If this is done, I thank you and Zach Morris and the others very much for all your help.  I have questions about Atari 2600 next, if you're up for continuing...I have had this working before on Kodi, so hopefully this will be an easy one.  Should I open a new thread, to pin things down by console, or make this a megathread on getting lots of different consoles working?

Or have you had enough?  :-)

Almost! We just need your buttonmap for the Coleco controller.

It's stored in userdata. You can access userdata in Kodi's File Manager.

Grab a keyboard, because you'll need to manually enter the following path:

Code:

/storage/emulated/0/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi/files/.kodi

(it might be slightly different on your Android box. Locate the path to your Android folder)

OK, add that as a source, and ".kodi" should show up in the file manager.

Then go to:

.kodi -> userdata -> addon_data -> peripheral.joystick -> resources -> buttonmaps -> xml -> android

Locate the controller you mapped. You can click on the files to view them to make sure. You should have controller entries for "game.controller.default" and "game.controller.colecovision".

On the right side of the file manager, browse to the folder you want to save the buttonmap to (like a USB stick maybe).

Now long-press on the XML file on the left, and hit "Copy" to copy it to the folder on the right.

Then upload it here!

I'm ready to help with Atari 2600!
