i also use smb shares with winxp and get choppy playback on mp3 files. sounds a bit like a scratched cd. i am using the 0102cvs.

using xp pro myself, no choppy playback here.
just did an update to cvs that should remove most crashes and other problems with samba, maybe this will solve your problem to?

maybe you could try copying a file from a samba share to your xbox hdd using xbmc's filemanager. i get around 4 mb /sec.

well, i almost never listen to mp3´s on the box but i hate when things dont work. i sometimes can sit for hours trying to find a solution.
it only took about 1 h for this...  Wink

supercool ktd... will try this out asap. the only way i listen to music, apart from regular fm radio, is through xbmc. so fixing this would be a reeeal treat.

i'm glad to say that this tweak applied to my winxp sp1 server had very good effect on my choppy playback of mp3s.  Smile

applied reg-file and rebooted machine...

thanx a bunch ktd

a thought to devs though (not complaint): should it be required by the endusers to applythis kind of tweak to get things running smoothly? or is it possible to improve the new smb implementaion to work better with winxp smb shares?
#13
good to see the tweak worked for more ppl than just me...
#14
still works fine, with id3 info turned off. if i turn id3 info on i'm back at choppy playback though.
