i'm using the lastest version (2004 compilation) and can't setup the xbox network using xbmc (my xbmc it's running from hdd).
my xbox is v1.0(jp), no mod-chip, tsop flashed with xecuter 4980.06, 80gb 7200 rpm barracuda .

today i was trying to use the xdk to take an screenshot using the xdk bios 4627 bfm,  using the pbl. if i boot this bios the xbmc network works fine, when i remove pbl and boot the normal installed x2 4980 the network stop working.

from evox 3935 sys info:

ip: 192.168.1.6 (static)
line status: 100/half duplex
mac address: 00:50:f2:20:d6:b0

booting xbmc using bios 4980.06, sys info:
type: static
mac: 2f:00:32:00:30:00
ip:
link: no link

boot using debug 4627(bfm) pbl, selecting evox 3935 then running the xbmc:

mac: 00:50:f2:20:d6:80
ip:192.168.1.6
link: 100mb half duplex

this also happens with bios x2 4979 and 4978.

what do you use in your xboxmediacenter.xml?

try explicitly putting the ip address in there and see if that works.

check my last post, using different bios xbmc works with this configuration.

192.168.1.1 it's the router that i use to access internet, i do not use dhcp.

i use tsop flashed as well and don't have any problems.

but mine is using an older x2 bios version than what you mentionned, though i am having a hard time thinking that is the problem.

xecuter2 bios 4980.xx has a new function to block xbox-live, maybe that somehow screws up xbmc network too?

well. it works fine on my 1.4 with 4980 so i dont think so...

solution

disable tsr at evox.ini.

strange stuff could happend if tsr is on:

- dashboard crash some times.
- dashboard menus move like slowmotion.
- dashboard crash in music menu.
- dashboard crash if you connect the lan cable.
- can't set up network outside evox.
- mac address get's all mess up.
- some apps will not work or will crash (xbmc it's one of them).
- xbmc will crash if you play videos and try to play music.
- xbmc will act strange if you play photos (out of sync images, takes to much time to load big images, slideshow will crash some times)

if this is the case you should really report this in evolutionx's own forums. btw, are you using latest evolution-x version?
