i have moste of my files on my win2k server pc and it works great witht the new smb protocoll but all my mp3s is on my winxp pc and when playing songs i get a choppy playback.
when using relax it works fine but i would like to only use smb.
does anybody know what could be wrong?

are you using the very latest release with the new smb client code?

i also use smb shares with winxp and get choppy playback on mp3 files. sounds a bit like a scratched cd. i am using the 0102cvs.

i'll see about installing xp to see if i get the same behaviour. i've only tested on 2k pro.

using xp pro myself, no choppy playback here.
just did an update to cvs that should remove most crashes and other problems with samba, maybe this will solve your problem to?
maybe you could try copying a file from a samba share to your xbox hdd using xbmc's filemanager. i get around 4 mb /sec.

supercool ktd... will try this out asap. the only way i listen to music, apart from regular fm radio, is through xbmc. so fixing this would be a reeeal treat.

still works fine, with id3 info turned off. if i turn id3 info on i'm back at choppy playback though.

havent tried the playback with id3 enabled cus it takes forever before the list is shown...
