Best way to play DVD ISO
#1
so, since xbmc doesnt open iso files on smb shares<right?>

i see the iso9660:// for the dvd section. can i put an smb path in there somehow? i have a slew of iso files on a large file server i dont want to burn into dvd's.

is there anyway to get these images to work?

well, i added iso as a video extension and it worked, except that i cant get the dvd menu to operate so that i can play the movie? i have a remote, and i have not modified the keymap file.

this is getting interesting!

i do think .iso playback is supported.
if i remeber correctly .img and .iso is the same thing. just that dvd's images are usually called .img. just rename the file or add .iso to your accepted files in config.

yea, it mounts the iso, but cant play it cuz of a menu, hehe.
oh well, i use the built in one, and burned it. i used smart ripper to rip out the video into 1 vob, but it stoped in the middle? whats happening with dvd support in the future? it sure would be nice to support menus!

fyi, iso & img are not the same, niether is bin or nrg, all are cd/dvd images but they don't have same spec, as i under xbmc uses libcdio to read/parse cd/dvd images and as libcdio currently only support img, bin/cue and nrg then xbmc cannot support iso images (that is if by iso you mean .iso following the iso standard).

.iso files from dvddecrypter play fine with xbmc. no menus, and the audio is about 50% of normal, but they do play.
