when i goto load a music share on relax the program freezes. but when checking out relax it looks like it is pulling everyfile in the directory to the xbox. maybe this is to retrieve id3 tag info?? when there's 5000 files in the directory it takes some time and i just rebooted. i had similar delays when id3 tsg was turned on in xbmp, so i left that option turned off.

have the same problem here. it last very long if u have e.g. 100 files in the mp3 folder.
i think it would be a good setup option to swith the id3 tag scan funtion.

yes if you scan the folder once it should be much faster the next time you open it. another way would be to disable id3 tag parsing (this options is only available since 11-02-03).

i have xbmc-2003-11-03 build and disabling id3 tags certaintly speeds things up, but i assume without id3 the database features of music may not work??
when lettting it load the id3 tags it took about 20mins, but didnt seem to be faster the next time round. my music db file is called musicdb3 is this normal also?

when disabling the id3 tags the database still worx
this means you can scan directories (manually)
and it will use/show all details of songs already in the database
with disabling id3 tags xbmc wont scan id3tags for new files automaticly
