I have a lot of nice fanart for my music collection, which can be quite difficult to really enjoy because it is very muted/faded. Can someone give me a clue where and what to alter to make the fanart less muted?

What joe said would probably work but usually you can just edit the "BackgroundColor" number in the xml file for the theme you are using. There are 10 xml files located in the "skin.big.alaska\colors" folder that control all the colors for each theme.

If you are just using the standard (white) theme then edit the defaults.xml file and change the first two digits of the BackgroundColor number to control the transparency level.

for instance, try changing (in defaults.xml):

to

Code:

<color name="BackgroundColor">86ffffff</color>

heya today i noticed a "issue" when i added another serie (waiting on my nas so just doing temporary library to test)

it happens in most views that have the poster , it shows the poster with some transparent borders and on the top left it has some weird transparency triangle sort of thing .

tried disabling clear cases , dvd cases , clear art video and had no luck , hopefully you can tell me what is this and how to fix it , thanks , the top left thingie isn't actually a solid color as you can still see the poster , but yeah .

Are you talking about the area I've indicated in the screenshot below? If so, then that is by design on various views in order to give the illusion of a reflection on the poster. It's something Hitcher had in the Original Alaska & I've never changed it. Sorry, but there is no option to disable it.

You could modify it in PS (or similar). The file is called posterframeFO.png. It's located in skinfolder/media/poster/. Here's a git link to the original: http://github.com/HitcherUK/Alaska/blob/...rameFO.png

Here is a peek at the Video Info screen I've been playing with. I've added the options menu to it and added the "Play" button. I've also changed the way the cast will display, using a list with images now. It's not final by any means yet so feel free to post any comments or suggestions.

One thing I keep thinking about doing but I'm afraid too many people would miss it is to do away with the "Starring" info and then move the options menu, plot info & cast images up, thus allowing mainly for more plot to be visible without scrolling. Just a thought, not really sure about it.

General idea is nice though I would feel all the dividers make it very busy and looks a bit like an old school web page table. I'd probably move the poster to the left where the poster edge aligned with the end of the word 'Movies' to allow for more space to the right. Then remove all the grid lines except the lines above and below of the movie options (Trailer, Plot, Play, etc) and rearrange locations a bit to be a bit more logical and user friendly placement IMO. The example was a quick cut/paste so it is ugly.

I agree that I've added too many lines so I started from scratch and made the two mockups below. There are still lines but they are reduced so I am happier with it. I'll see what else I can come up with first though before changing the code around. Also, bear in mind that in the first image I am using the shorter Plot Outline and that the full Plot would more than fill the space available.

I really like this second set of mock-ups better as I too have always thought there were too many lines. Which speaking of, is it possible to do the lines with a fade-out at the ends to take the "edgy" away or is that limited to a horizontal line?

And I see you took actors out of the first screen. I'm actually one who uses this as a quick way to see if there's an actor I'm particularly not in the mood for. My 2¢ tho'..

Yeah, that's should be easy enough to do and probably would look better.

I kind of ran out of room. The "Starring" info could go where I currently have Genre, Director & Writer. I probably don't really need to list the genre on this screen as it is usually listed in each video view anyway.
