i am looking for something that can be run totally outside xbmc to update tv show library prefer something that can run on linux

reason:
i run a linux (debin sid) server, fileserver, torrent box and mysql server (for XBMC) this machine is on 24/7
i have 2 xbmc machines (both windows for various reasons) that are not on unless being used
i want to be able to have something run on the linux machine that can scan through and add any new items to the mysql db so that when the xbmc machines get woken up they will already be up to date with new info
i do not want to run xbmc on linux machine - it is headless

Best thing I can think of is to install XBMC on the headless server and have it always 'on'.

by headless i mean there is no gui. none. ssh only.

from what i can gather to have xbmc installed you have to have a gui at the least and 3d gfx drivers etc etc.

if the current system of updating the library in xbmc is able to be ripped out and run as a script then it should not require any gui.. run as cron or on complete with the torrent manager and all is well.

I understand the concept of 'headless'. You just need enough to run OpenGL. Hell my sheeva plug has an X11 install, it doesn't care. Run VNC to configure stuff and forget about it.

not something i wanted to do was hoping for a perl script that could parse the directories and thetvdb enought to shove the info in the database.
