I requested it before but thought I would again. I would like to be able to click on a movie and have the ability to add it to a "To Be Bought/Watched" list so when I am browsing other peoples collections I can easily keep track of movies I want to get.

Call it whatever, but it would be awesome to point a friend to my profile, they see my movies, they select movies they'd like to watch/borrow/talk about and that list is available for me to view somehow.

Since you're taking suggestions, I'd like to remind you of one I had said a few pages back.

Having the ability to compare your movie collection to that of a friend's. Only showing the movies that he has that you don't have. (Ignoring the movies that both of you have)

Also, maybe a list view or something that will allow you to see more of the collection at once.

While I am here - I would like to add my thanks to TheDuffMan for creating this. It's really given me a great reference point for finding new movies that I want to buy. The features I would like to see, already mentioned are:
1. Definition of the film - I'm ripping my blurays, and sometimes a film simply isn't available in Bluray format, so if I see someone has it in HD, it's a fairly good indication that it is out there.
2. Search feature - ok, I can search for a film on TMDB and IMDB (which I hate now since it's started showing me all the film names in Portuguese because I live in Brazil!) but I cannot search for the film in Sharethe.tv and read people's comments on the film.

On that last point - I like to read people's comments on a film, especially if it's not one of the common ones that everyone has, and every paper and TV show has already reviewed. It's interesting to know a few words about a unique film - why you have it, what you think of it, what makes it special etc, especially when it might not be an Avatar style film that everyone knows about unless they have been living in cave for the past 5 years.

I agree, the indication of the quality of the movie in the collection would be interesting indeed.

Also agree on the option of showing movie names in other languages, I'm also from Brazil and the names of the movies here sometimes are not the exact translation from the original name in English. The tmbd has the names of movies in other languages, could be used in a field as an option for the user to show it in his collection in ShareThe.TV.


Only ideas of improvement, but the way it is today is already a great addon! Thanks DuffMan!

not working for me man. installed it signed up and everything. shows 0 movies. I did knoticed that I couldnt hit the update button since it was greyed out. whats going on here? anyone help me?

There's a bit of a backlog right now as lots of updates are coming in, but it's working through the updates pretty quickly. Which update button are you talking about? What was the message that the addon said?

Ok, thanks for all the great feedback everyone. I've been going back and forth with some ideas for the redesign and new features, and trying to include things while keeping it usable. I wanted to hear some feedback on a possible new collection view:



Some info: That 1080p, watched icon will show when hovering over a movie in a users collection or in your collection. The 'Unique' toggle view button hides movies you own already, when viewing someone elses collection. You can switch the tab to 'Liked' movies (ones you've marked as like across the site), or view the 'Wishlist' tab of movies you want to get. These movies are removed automatically once in your library.

Also, the search box is a live search. As you begin typing, the amount of movies narrow immediately without you having to hit enter or anything.

Thoughts? This layout isn't final but it incorporates what features I think you guys would like to see, and should be close to the finished product.

Maybe you can include the 'liked' and 'wishlist' in the same ballon of the '1080p' and 'watched'.

You may include the movie small picture at the side of its name while typing, similar to facebook interface while you are searching for a person.

I am not sure if this is the proper place for a feature request. I was hoping for a smaller signature banner image. I love the current banner but I would like to slim down the image and make it more minimal and streamlined.

I do understand that making it smaller may not be feasible due to the display of 4 covers.

What update button?
Pretty much plug and play here.
You do have to config the plugin under program addins, or in the plugin area.
This is needed so it can log into your account.
The updating seems to be automatic during a library update.


One feature I would like to see, is a report of the bad files. I have over 200 movies not showing up, and I am not sure why.

@AlessandroSS: The reason I had split 'liked' and 'wishlist' into separate views is because those movies are not necessarily ones in your collection, i.e. you can like any movie on the site, and 'wishlist' pics are ones that are not in your collection. But, I think it makes sense to show which ones you've liked in your collection, so I'll add likes to the popover.

For the searching, yea, that's a great idea and exactly what I had in mind for the full site search. You could search for users, movies, or actors, and then the dropdown beneath the search box would show a small image of the movie or actor, along with info like the title and year. The search box inside a movie collection I think I'll keep as is - this way as you start typing, you see the matches beneath change and become filtered.

@bmcclure937: I'm open to ideas. Are you thinking slimmer height wise or width? It's not a priority but down the road I'd like to give users the option between several designs.

@Laserray: Yes, that's a fair and good request. I will work this into the user information area. I'm starting to layout that area and I'll post the image up here as well to get some feedback. I think it'll be fairly easy to add and helpful.

@jspot69: Yes, in time I've decided to push forwards with a v2 of the site, incorporating the most popular features everyone has been asking for and improving the UI first. Then, adding in TV shows afterwards shouldn't be too difficult. No estimated time though!
