hi everybody,
i have many mp3s on my 120gb-hdd. i used the "scan"-function in version 10-10 and xbmc found all the mp3s that were located in the specified folder and its subfolders (all filenames including directories are 30 characters or less). the scanning took quite some time, but as described, all files were indexed and added to the database. upgrading to version 2003-10-12 (and deleting xbmc-folder and both 0face008-folders) xbmc scanned very fast but did not index all the files (approx. 60% (!!! were not indexed). i thought it might be because the scripts are/were rared, so i extracted the scripts too in the root-menu in the folder python and scripts. it did not help (even after deleting the 0face008-folders).
i upgraded to version 10-16-2003 and 10-18-2003, but still the same problem. in version 10-18-2003 something strange happened: the files that were in the database were indexed with the correct artist but the wrong song-title. i have to say that all my mp3s are tagged correctly with both id3v1 and v2.3 (not 2.4)-tags. they contain artist, song-title, track-number, album-title and sometimes even comments. i would be very happy if someone could tell me what i am doing wrong here or if there is a real bug in the indexing-procedure/building of the database. i am using mp3info for perl here on my server and am not sure how to call the pythion-scripts, but afaik that script works very well (although i believe it is not used here for scanning the directories and indexing the files)
thanks in advance,
lxcool
