hi everyone.
i'm very pleased to see a new player from you guy. very good work.
currently i'm experimenting with the ogm container as i want to create a multi-language video. i'm using ogmtools for linux and mplayer to encode the video.
after merging the avi and the mp3 into the ogm container i tried to play it with mplayer and it worked fine: both language were available using the -aid switch.
i thought that, as xbmc is based on mplayer, xbmc wouldn't have any problem to play the ogm file. anyway xbmc just hangs as i try to start the video.
btw, the same happens to xbmp. what's currenlty the support for ogm file under xbmc? i've tried even with the mkv format but it didn't play even on mplayer under linux.
i'm using latest xbmc (cvs built on 10/18/2003).
thanks for your support.

you're right about mkv (i forgot it) but the announcement says:
"xboxmediacenter is still in beta stage but can currently be used to play and view most video/audio/picture formats such as mpeg/mpg, vob, avi, ogm, divx, xvid, mp3, ogg, jpg, gif and many more direct from a cd/dvd in the dvd-rom or of the xbox build-in hard disk drive, it can also play files over a network (lan) from a pc via an "xstream server" application or from a windows (smb) share."
so ogm seems to be supported. i'm asking if the binaries you can find around has ogm support compiled in.
thanks anyway.

ogm does work in xbmc, i've just tried it.
but, i coudln't get the subtitles to work. i had to extract the subtitles (.srt) from the ogm file and place them in the folder with the video to get them to work.
also there doesn't seem to be any method to switch between audio tracks when playing an ogm video. it just plays the first audio track.

what version have you tried? i've tried cvs 10/18/2003 binaries on xbins.
which tools have you used to create the ogm?
thanks.

i was using the latest version from xbins, which is 21/10/03. i didn't make the ogm files myself, so i don't know which tools were used.

sorry, it's far too big for me to send it over the internet.
i have just remembered that i made an ogm file a few months ago using virtualdubmod, and that also plays fine.

ok this is the state of the art.
ogms in xbmc and also xbmp-cvs do work. the ogm must be created by virtualdubmod which correctly defines ogm headers (i.e. in a way xbmc/xbmp can understand. mplayer indeed seems to play any ogm file).
i've contacted the author of ogmtools who told me to try the latest cvs version of the tools as he has changed the headers last week.
stay tuned.

last update. upcoming release of ogmtools for linux finally works with xbmc/xbmp-cvs.
no more need of virtualdubmod for penguins fans :-)
thanks to all.
