AC3 and DTS pass-through

still not working - shows up as 2 channels

hi,

thks to the coders who make xbmc !

i got a little problem with the ac3 pass through function, with the 26-10 cvs version, running on a pal v1.0 xbox, connected to a denon avr 3801 amplifier.

here is the point. when ac3 passthrough is activated,
- i can play dolby digital divx, and the amplifier says "dolby digital". fine.
- i can also play vobs with dts audio track. great !!
- the problem occurs when i want to watch stereo movies: i get no sound, though the amplifier is still in "pro logic mode", normal for stereo sound, and which is the default when no "sound initialisation process" is performed.

i think that xbmc could miss an initialization process for standard stéreo sound when ac3 pass through is activated (something where xbmc can tell the xbox that it is playing stereo sound). does it make some sense for someone ?

of course, my stereo movies play well when ac3 passthrough is not activated...

hope it does help,

btw, great job,

make sure you have

1. output to all channels disabled.
2. ac3 pass thur enabled.
3. number of channels set to 2.

if it still doesn't work, then there has been cvs updates since the version you have, as it works fine for me. (i'm running the very latest cvs code)

note that ac3/dts/pcm pass thru is still very much alpha - it is being worked on, and i'm sure it will be perfected given a little bit of time.

with the new build, i get constant passthrough (was stuttering before, 5 seconds here and there). now, the audio is out of sync by about 500ms-750ms. i can't figure out how to change the a/v sync either in xbmc (if the option is even there). is the ability there yet?

also, should it only be showing up as 2ch in xbmc (receiver reads it as dd 5.1, so no compalints there). i just didn't know if was detecting the stream wrong or what was going on.

hi i got an av sync problem when switching ac3 passtru on.
the screen delays about 1 second compared to the sound.

i got the 10-26 cvs,
xbox 1.1,
optical connected to a creative digital 5.1 5500

anyone an idea?

btw. the sound is really much cleaner with this option...great!!

same sync problems here. also massive timeout problems. all my movies are muxed with 96/96 in nandub.

xbox 1.1
10-26
pioneer vsx-511 receiver (optical)

well, you guys are doing a great job. i hope.. nope.. i think you get this feature perfectly done. also, begging for dts cdda support. these cds make a great audio demonstration for i-dont-know-what-surround-sound-is-people Smile

cheers,

dts cdda = 44.1khz

at the moment the devs involved in this aren't sure we can output any other than 48khz spdif stream correctly (possibly due to xbox hardware limitations). but rest assured if it is possible, someday support will be there!
