Is there a way to do this? By that I mean whatever the current xbmc volume setting, I want it reset to a specific level (say -50 dB) when a video file or stream is opened. The reason, if it matters, is I'm having a problem balancing my music player volume level with my video player volume level. I don't want to use the same player for both.
I wondered if adjusting the volume in the audio settings during video playback and then selecting 'set as default for all videos' would work...but it doesn't.

Volume amplification can be saved as a default, (and is also remembered per video) but the main volume setting (which tracks +/- on the keyboard) cannot.
Are you trying to reduce volume on video playback or increase it ?

At the moment for music playback I need the volume cranked up well above half way but when I switch to a video source that's far too loud. So in that sense I'm looking to REDUCE volume on video playback.
That said I'm just trying to achieve a balance so an increase of volume on music playback would do the job too. I can boost music volume somewhat with the replay gain settings but the maximum boost is nowhere near enough.

I suppose an option is if you set replay gain tags on your music you could adjust the RPG target in the settings.
