v17 Getting Thai subtitles to work properly
#1
Hi all,

This is just an FYI as I could never find the definitive solution previously. (and just now set it up for a friend on his new rPi)

Getting Thai subtitles to work:

1. Download arialuni.ttf from http://sourceforge.net/projects/allfonts...rce=navbar
2. Copy to /storage/.kodi/media/Fonts (create the directory if it doesn't already exist)
3. Change subtitle font for System to arialuni.ttf in Settings/Video/Subtitles - Text to use for text subtitles
4. Change character set to Thai - Windows

I've personally found more available thai subtitles to be available on Subscene and OpenSubtitles - these are the 2 added to my list of subtitle suppliers

Anyway, I hope this help people out in the future.

As far as I know, "ARIALUNI.TFF" is a limited license copyright font distributed by various MS apps and contains the caveat:

"Digitized data copyright © 1993-2000 Agfa Monotype Corporation. All rights reserved. Arial is a trademark of The Monotype Corporation which may be registered in certain jurisdictions."

It probably would be better to build a font using Google/Alphabet Noto Sans which is licensed under SIL Open Font License 1.1.
