Kodi can’t find all episodes of seasons
#1
Hello!
I have a problem thats been going on for a while, Kodi and TVDB can’t find all episodes..

All the files are named the same;

Serier - Brooklyn Nine-Nine - S01 etc etc..

But Kodi only finds S05 and S06?

And some series isn’t on the list...

What can i do?
Thanks!

I prefer TV shows over movies any day of the week, and I have no problem with TV shows.

Firstly, what version of Kodi are you using? Secondly what device are you using a PC, MAC, Android etc? All of this matters otherwise it is like going to a Doctor and you simply saying that you are sick and then expecting them to work out what is wrong with you.

I have folder called Brooklyn Nine-Nine - Season 07 - S07e01

I use media elch to scrape my TV shows and Tiny Media Manager to scrape my movies.

Do not use Kodi media in built scraper if you can help it and always make sure that you have the nfo files for that episode. If you do not have an nfo file for it, then it will not find it.

I would sooner trust a chocolate t-pot than automatically scrape anything using Kodi.

Thanks for your answer!

I wrote on my cellphone, so it was pretty hard to get everything down.
I use Kodi 18.6 on my Android TV. I have TVDB for scraping but i have also tried the other "Built in" options, either kodi crashes or it can't find the whole episodes.

I found out that it only finds 2 episodes in Brooklyn nine-nine S05, and the differens between those 2 episodes compair to the others is that it named like ; S05e08 and the others it can't find are named S05E09....

I have tried multiple times to get this working, the last 2 years... and i always give up.
But it sounds like you got it working, so i have hopes now.

How do u use Media elch?

Thanks

Ok so now we are getting somewhere. I am a PC user and not android, so basically you are screwed.

I am the PC Master race and look down at android box users from a very tall set of ladders.

I used to have a shield TV and being perfectly honest, I tried Kodi on that and switched to Plex.

Are you using your android box as a network to your pc to display media?

If you have a PC that contains your media then check inside your directory folders to see if you have nfo files, if you do not then you need to use a media manager to create them.

Oh yeah, how helpful!  If you can't help, get out of the way!!

@DjJoakim What we probably need here is a debug log (wiki) of you trying to scrape a TV show that doesn't work.  As finding the debug log (wiki) on Android can be an issue, you should install the Kodi log file uploader (see -> https://kodi.wiki/view/Add-on:Kodi_Logfile_Uploader) first.  Then put Kodi into debugging mode (settings->system->logging->enable debug logging) quit it and restart it (it will remember the debug setting).  Reproduce your issue by trying to scrape a show/season/episode or whatever you have an issue with.  Run the addon and post the url it gives you here.

This should give some clues as to what is going on internally with Kodi and hopefully reveal why some of your stuff is not scraping correctly.

I use to run Kodi on my computer but since i move, i can't. So now i have SMB charing from my computer to the TV, so all the files are still on the PC.
Yes, all the folders have NFO files.

Ok so now we are getting closer and closer to the solution.

I cannot remember the full details or how long ago it was, however I remember setting up Kodi on either the shield or xbox and even though I had set up before using SMB file share the time that I tried it again, it would not work.

It would be very intermittent if it would pick up the file share or not, which is why I tried Plex on the shield. I think that I tried setting Kodi back up on the xbox but again the smb share would not work.

My experience of using Kodi on anything other than a PC has not been a good one and I am tech savy and I can work on most devices. I can only speak for older versions of Kodi and not current, so things might have changed, but the next time that I will try kodi again on a non PC based device will be when the xbox 2 comes out.

If it performs the same as it has done in the past, then I will be switching to Emby this time rather than Plex as Emby seems a lot fresher than Plex which has never changed.

Any how I am waffling.

This is how close i can get, the problem is.. kodi crashes, and when i choose in "Kodi lofile uploader" to upload the log file from "Last kodi run" it only says, "Logfile to big, max 1M" so.. Im soon throwing the tv out the window, becuse nothing irritates me more then when something just crashes infront of you, over and over and over and over...

See if you can get something from this log file, i will try to get a more specific log file from when it acually crashes.

There's no evidence of trying to scrape Brooklyn Nine Nine at all in that log?

Thread moved to TV metadata scraper section.

So, log file is a bit of a mess but what stands out for me initially is the rar stuff.  Is there a good reason for you to be keeping things rar'd up now?  It's not like disk space is expensive these days and I doubt you are saving much by doing so.

Yeah that can be an issue sometimes.  If you can get the full log file then https://paste.ubuntu.com/ or https://pastebin.com/  will take bigger files.

Feels like im stuck - I can't access the TV's root system, where the log file is, i downloaded the addon "Kodi logfil reader" and it's no way i can read everything or even copy everything that's there..
So i don't really know what 2 do, feels like im stuck with kodi that just crashes and a log file i can't enter, so i don't know why it crashes.. great..
The reason it's rar is bc that's how the files are when i get them, all the movies and series is rar...

Then just extract them. Not a hard thing to do and only take seconds.

Yeah, bc kodi crashes before scraping that series, and i can't upload the crash logfile since it's "To big" and i can't access the root where the log file is located, since the root is protected, so yeah - doing fine here.

I can't extract them, i need them in the rar files. It's over 5TB of material, it's not that easy.
And is really the problem that they are in the RAR?

Yes, most likely that is the cause as there are current issues with the rar addons. But we don't know without the Debug Log.

All we need you to do is scrape that one tv show. We do not want you to scrape your whole library, which is what you have done in your last log, so it makes it useless.

Enable debug mode, Restart Kodi, then go to Videos>Files, locate your TV Show and press i on your keyboard to start a scrape of the show. Upload the log. Simple...
