I've just tested it downloading subtitles for a movie successfully.

It's impossible to even start thinking about doing something with a report like yours: Zero details, shorter than a tweet.

Version 0.2 isn't working for me recently (possibly broken post Kodi upgrade), it just shows a script error on the screen, manual search does not work either.

Further research shows it just wasn't working with iStream TV/Films, the same happened with other subtitle services - it looks like the search string isn't being passed from iStream properly

I'm currently using kodi 18, I know that it is still on Alpha state, and wanted to report that the addon is having issues unpacking subtitles, the other addons for subtitles work, only the subdvix addon is having this issue.

Sigue sin servir, el ultimo alpha que sirvio con este addon fueron los que subieron a principio de Abril, desde entonces sigue sin servir.

Short explanation: Kodi changed to Python 3 for Kodi 18.

As it can be seen from the log excerpts above, we download the compressed subtitles file (RAR in this case) successfully to a temporary directory. then we use a Kodi Python API function (XBMC.Extract) to uncompress it.

What is happening is XBMC.Extract can't open or process that file. Or the temporary file is being removed before it can open it, or it is locked by another running thread concurrently(?). Unfortunately we don't get any extra details from XBMC.Extract, just that cryptic "Extract, no archive given".

This also has been reported on GitHub: https://github.com/ramiro/service.subtit.../issues/33 although it's for the Kodi 15.x as packaged by Ubuntu 16.04 xenial.

I wonder if the compressed file extracting capabilities of XBMC.Extract are crippled in some way when using a Kodi packaged by some Linus distributors.

Am using an Android s905 box with LibreELEC 8.90.4.
I have spent some time yesterday going through the Python script trying to debug it, and it seems that .rar compressed files are the culprit as XBMC.Extract is unable to process it as reported elsewhere.
Same addon for downloading zip compressed files works fine.

Tried to get some information on the built in function XBMC.extract, but could not find any.

Downloaded .rar file is present and available. I double checked that with SFTPing into the box.

I have checked the suggested forum threads and bug report at GitHub and apparently a workaround could be to use vfs for accessing the rar downloaded file.

My almost non existant knowledge in Python prevents me from going any further in fixing the Addon.

I've tested on windows x64 and x32, also nvidia shield tv with the same results.

Actually the kodi team want the addons to be compatible to python 2 and 3 for kodi 18 leia in order for the addon to be in their resository , then kodi 19 will only take python 3.

They also created a support group for addon developers to help with the changes required, it looks like some addon developers said its hard to make it compatible with both python 2 and 3.
