Why do I have to go to some Russian website to get xbmc to work with external players?

Clearly external player support (which allows for hardware acceleration) is something that Android users are crying out for.

I've mentioned this in another thread, but the basic idea is that even the external player code really isn't ready for mainline yet. It's hacky and needs work, else it will just be more work to fix it later on. External player support doesn't work with video add-ons (or at least, won't work well with most of them), doesn't play well with XBMC's virtual file system, lacks XBMC's GUI, doesn't work with the subtitle add-on downloader, and currently can't communicate back to XBMC about things like when the video has stopped playing. Android users are crying out for the full XBMC experience, not just a media launcher for other players.

It isn't. I've tried.

Well said. External players aren't the answer (most) Android users are looking for, for those reasons.

We have a dev working on HW acceleration and there are some first promising tests, but it's still in early stages and takes more time.

It now works fine form all the formats work well. It seems hardware decoding is working for the asus tf7001t chipset
