Running KODI on Fire OS (android fork). Remote has no stop button.
#16
I pressed left while playing music and it did bring up a list which contained the STOP function. Only a few clicks, but much better than navigating back to the home screen.

Since my Fire TV Cube is also Alexa controlled, I said STOP while playing a song and it paused instead.

For fullscreen music that's the Visualisation section https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/blob/master...e.xml#L254

alexa+kodi is a whole new level of broken

alexa sent a generic media control to the top most app, kodi, it didn't consider what that app actually responds to

kodi responds to generic media controls from android so it kind of works

for the most part just limit your expectations concerning alexa

here are some of the links for it only further showing it's broken state

if you've used a firetv device long enough you will notice every other app stops playback when pressing Back
having kodi do anything different causes you to have to stop and think what app you're in before stopping instead of just using a natural instinct
so it's my "preference" that kodi behave like every other app and when asked for an opinion that's what i provide

that said, it is preference so users should always follow what suits them best

Why would i even consider using a FireOS device when im used to how Kodi works on all my other (around a dozen) devices?
Seems kind of stupid, maybe those that have a problem with FireOS just take it up with their developers.

i don't know why you would, how would i know that?
for the same reason you considered commenting on a thread regarding an OS you don't even use, perhaps?

I don't understand why the central select button doesn't work to bring up the OSD with the GUI player control buttons, this should always work with any remote on any platform.

It's the exact same action for both video and music so there should be no difference.

The central button on the Fire TV Cube's Remote does bring up the OSD with the GUI player control buttons for videos but not for music. When playing a song, if you press the central button, the song starts playing from the beginning again. You have to press left to bring up the GUI player control buttons.

Ah it's just occured to me that you're not going into the fullscreen music playback mode, so you're just sat at the music track listing. So yes in the situation you're just in the browse windows for the music library so select here is for selecting the items you want to play and the player controls are on the side menu reached by using left button to get to this https://kodi.wiki/view/Music_navigation#Sideblade_Menu

The central select button to bring up the OSD will only work once your in the fullscreen playback mode (like video and it's refered to as Now Playing screen on wiki and from a code perspective this is the Visualisation window) as shown here https://kodi.wiki/view/Music_navigation#...g_Controls

If by chance you were completely unaware of the fullscreen mode, it's reach by the up/down/left/right type icon button (meant to represent expand) on the same button row as the Stop button. Or you can set Kodi to enter it automatically with this setting https://kodi.wiki/view/Settings/Media/Mu...n_playback

I never used the fullscreen mode when playing music. I like to see all the available tracks to choose from but thanks for the info.

my suggestions assumed full screen playback, disregard all of them since that's not the case
