New Trainner engine a bad idea?
#1
i think the new trainner engine for xbmc is a v bad idea. there are so many modders on kai as it is and now im sure were going to see a massive increase. if anything there should be someway to let other users know that the users have enabled cheats in xbmc

i think there are basic checks in xbmc for kai connectivity anyway if you have a trainer enabled i think it deactivates them before connecting to kai engine.

sorry pike what was that? :d

and people, lets not forget how easy it is to circumvent this. i won't mention how easy it is (non xbmc solution) and i suggest you don't either

thats good that it turns them off :d and yea there are easy ways to do trainners online, shame theres no way to stop them all together. 60% of lag on kai is because of modders!!!

people are gonna cheat if you make it easier or harder, they're still going to do it. i hate the new feature in xbmc that when kai is active it wont let you even start a game with a trainer on even if your not playing online, if kai is active your stuck

on a similar line and modding note... anybody here ever played half-life on the pc? was a pretty good game in its time (still is in alot of respects) but then you have oz, now oz used the half life engine and you could tweak it out to use hooks and what have you. now at half-life i admit.. i blew dog but oz... everybody used the hook, everybody had additional options. the whole "cheat debate" is only valid if the option is available to one person (isolated) now if there is a specific area... say i hosted a game on xlink and had it enabled and it was plainly obvious that i was using the trainers there is nothing wrong with that. there is also notheing wrong with me using one in a not so public area if you know what to look for an you notice another using them.

in most instances (half-life or halo) they can actually make for some quite entertaining games. to be frank the whole "lock out" issue doesnt work for me. if that were the case, nobody would be populating these forums because everybody would be doing exactly what bill gates intended and using the default dash and paying him for xblive. its all about choice, if i choose to use them fine... if i choose not to use them then i should not be freaked out if soebody chooses differently and if i dont like it i have the option to choose to play elsewhere or start my own game.

i think we (team xbmc) as developers have an obligation to do our best to not encourage cheating on xlink/kai.

but i agree the current solution in xbmc could probably be tweaked to the better.

and the only ones that really wants this protection removed - are online cheaters Confusedaint:
