WRL54GL with dd-wrt v23sp1 + latest version of XBMC problems
#1
Question
I have a WRT54GL with dd-wrt v23 sp1 installed and the lastest version of XBMC installed on the xbox.

The XMBC sees the internet etc fine. But when using Kai it works once, but then I have to reset the router and reconfigure everything. Then xbmc sees kai again. I'm not sure which one isn't letting go correctly.

Any ideas?

Spaceman2004,
the dd-wrt v23 uses a 7005 version of kaid, the newest one is 7006, this one is great. So dd-wrt is to old for wrt users.

Sollie.

PS: look for thibor 15c.

I think you might incorrect on this...

I did state I'm using v23 sp1... it states in the change log that on the 23.11.2005 he updated it to the latest version on kaid.

v7.0.0.6 came out roughly 18.11.2005

So I'm guessing it is the v7.0.0.6 installed.

No its using 7005 and by the way 7007 is the newest, my fault. Try openwrt.

OK fair enough.

Can I just zap it with the openwrt bios, or do I have to go back to the linksys bios first?

No problem, you can overwrite your existing firmware with OpenWRT.

I did this:

1: install open wrt
http://openwrt.org/

2: install ftp server
http://www.macsat.com/macsat/content/view/37/30/

3: install kaid
http://www.macsat.com/macsat/content/view/49/30/
But there is an fault on that page : read "chmod +x /usr/bin/kaid" instead of "chmpd +x /usr/bin/kaid"

My kaid.conf looks like this:
Verbosity = 0
UIBind = :34522
OrbPort = 34525
OrbDeepPort = 34523
EngineBind = :0
EnginePAT = 0
SniffDevice = br0
LocalDevices = 1
ConfigURL = http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/connector/cli...config.php
ConfigCache = /kaid/kaiSystemConfig.txt
CacheFile = /kaid/kaiEnginePersist.txt
Username = sollie
Password = sollie
AutoLogin = 1
XBoxHomebrew = 0

4. After that i created two empty files:
kaiEnginePersist.txt
kaiSystemConfig.txt

I put them in /kaid/. I chmod the dir and the files to 777. Dont use the /tmp/, coz after a reboot the files are gone.

I had issues with DD-WRT v23 SP2 and the KaiD built in, so I switched to a version without kaid and installed kaid separately on an SD card.

You can get the file from this thread: http://dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3931
