ok so ive read a ton of the xlink kai guides and setup threads and questions but couldnt figure out my specific situation. im sure you all hate me because youve helped a million people with this already but heres the situation
wireless cable modem with an ethernet jack
my xbox is wired to that jack and can get weather etc... on XBMC
my computer is a Dell E1505 with an internal wireless card
I am running KAI on my computer
I have tried to setup kai on my PC and xbox correctly but of course when i click it in XBMC is says "The service is not connected, would you like to attempt reconnecting it with Xbox Media Center?"
The IP address i have entered on the kai settings in XBMC is the IP of my laptop, so I think thats right, I have the engine running on my laptop, but i think it may have something to do with the fact that my laptop is wireless
any ideas?

kai will not work if the PC is wireless to the xbox , which in your case it sounds like it is .. you need to wire the modem to your computer via USB or a cable .. i suggest in your case getting a hub ..

so u need to instal xlink kai on pc as well because i thought i would be all right with it just in the xbmc

ya you have to have the kai engine running on the PC and XBMC connects to it and acts as a UI .. you can run kai just on the PC as well with the PC UI ..
