v16 [MOD] Aeon MQ5 for Kodi 16 Jarvis
#1
08/31/2016 MQ5 Jarvismod ver 8.2.2 for Kodi 16.1 (Jarvis)

A new release of Aeon MQ5 Mod is available for Kodi Jarvis (16+) -- Jarvismod.

Direct link to repo:

Aeon MQ5 Jarvismod Repo 1.0.0

Ver 8.2.2 Direct link:

Aeon MQ5 Jarvismod Skin 8.2.2

This release is intended for Kodi Jarvis 16.0/16.1.

How to install (from repo)

1. Download repository (as a zip file) from the above link.
2. In Kodi 16, navigate to the Add-on Manager (Settings/Add-ons) and select "install from zip"
- In the file chooser, browse to your downloaded copy and select it
- Kodi should report that the "Aeon MQ5 Jarvismod Skin Repository" is installed
5. Still in Add-on Manager, select "Install from repository"
- Select "Aeon MQ5 Jarvismod Skin Repository"
- Select "Look and feel"
- Select "Skin"
- Select "Aeon MQ5 Jarvis"
6. This will pop-up the Add-on info dialog
- Select "Install"
7. Install will now begin. Note that the skin requires various official Kodi add-ons fro the official Kodi repo. It will take some time for these to download and install (if not previously installed). Also, some users have reported problems with the Kodi mirrors which support the official add-ons. This can result in an official add-on failing to install (often Kodi reports a "502" error from the nginx software that provides the mirror capability). If this happens, Kodi will not enable the skin due to "dependencies not met". Try to install later. If repeated attempts fail, open a support thread in the main Kodi support forum. You will probably need to provide a link to a debug log captured while the download failure occurs
- During the install process, you will probably get a popup yes/no dialog asking if you "want to switch skins now". I recommend selecting "no" here.
- After some time (please wait) everything should install and Aeon MQ5 Jarvismod Skin should show as "enabled".
8. Back out of the "Skins" list and this time select "GUI Sounds"
- select Aeon MQ5 Jarvis UI
9. This will pop-up the Add-on Info dialog
- select "install"
- this should install quickly as the file is small and has no dependencies

At this point the skin is installed.

10 To use the skin, navigate to settings/appearance/skin and Aeon MQ5 Jarvismod should appear in the list of available skins.
11. Select Aeon MQ5 Jarvismod.
- You should see a pop-up Yes/no dialog asking if you want to keep this change. Select "yes"
- It will take some time for the skin to load (first time) due to setting all the skin setting variables.
- Note: in a Jarvis change, when you exit Kodi all the skin settings will be saved in a new (for Jarvis) location, within you userdata folder tree under addon_data/skin.aeonmq5/settings.xml. Settings (if they existing prior) in guisettings.xml will be migrated. (DO NOT LOOK IN GUISETTINGS FOR SKIN SETTINGS -- ANY SKIN)

What's new:

I attempted to keep the look and feel of MQ5, while updating for Jarvis, including adding new Jarvis features. The MOD viewmodes, midlist and shelfcase are still provided.

In the settings/system/audio menu, Jarvis now provides auido DSP add-on management. To use audio DSP, you must first enable the 3 DSP add-ons provided with Jarvis (already installed and marked disabled). Once installed, you can use the new Audio DSP Manager window to control which add-ons are enabled. In some cases settings are required which can only be made during audio playback. These can be accessed via the video OSD menu (the existing audio settings button) or a new audio DSP settings button in the Music OSD menu.

In settings/system/logging, there is a new option to log system events (and optionally system notification events). There is a second option to open the new Even Log dialog window. This window provides options for displaying the logged events.

Icon selection: For Jarvis it is possible to provide various icons as "resource add-ons" (this is how skin sounds worked in Isengard). For this release, in settings/skin settings, there is a new settings category of "Icons". This will show a window pane that allows you to select which icon pack you want to use for various icons. In release 8.1.14, this is available only for weather icons. The default weather icon set is installed. You can install other icons sets from the Kodi official repo, or other sources (for example, animated weather icons). In the future, this also support studio icons, etc. The Customize Home Window for the "Weather" menu also supports this (but needs more work in 8.1.14 -- suggestions welcome).

Video User Star Ratings: You can now put a user star rating on videos (scale 0-10). A new button is provided in the Video Info dialog for this. You can also map input device keys to do this. The current user star rating is shown in the video and full screen video dialogs, and in several video viewmodes. (Note, in Jarvis you can't filter or create smart playlist from user star rating, but it is coming in Krypton.)

Changes in how Jarvis handles music visualization add-ons forced a change in how the music OSD works. Suggestions welcome.

Aside from Jarvis changes I made some tweaks in label and image positions based on user requests and my observations. Also, I have made some changes to the "rightlist" viewmode when used to display the now-playing music or video playlists. I believe these changes make this viewmode more useful especially when playing music or music video in party mode.

11/14/2015 An alpha build for use with Kodi Jarvis A4+ is available here:

Looks good.

Thanks for your hard work to provide us a FREE and good skin option to the PAID ("DONATION") MQ 6 for Isengard.

Obvious troll is obvious.

Look, there is a FUNCTIONING alpha build on the main page. Guess what? IT ALSO WORKS ON ISENGARD!!!! How do I know? I'm using it.

If you want the latest build and are willing to HELP TEST BEFORE OFFICIAL RELEASE, follow the steps, donate, and get access.
If you are not willing to do that, THEN FRICKEN WAIT LIKE THE REST OF US!!!!

I for one am thankful MQ is willing to spend his time to create this, and Wanilton, Samurai, Scott, Angelinas and the countless others are there to help, and even come here to pass instructions and assistance to us. I am so sick of coming to this board, clicking into a thread a reading some self-indulgent, entitled idiot making comments along the line of, "But I wanna play with it!!! Waaaahhhhh, I'm gonna hold my breath unless you give it me... Waaaaahhhhh."

I actually wouldn't blame Marcos if he decided to say screw it, I'll develop this for a few. Call it my own "MOD". I hope he doesn't, but he'd be well within his right to do so.

It's been mentioned ad nauseam: The skin will be released when it's ready. When will that be? When it's done. Please, show some patience and respect for those that are doing this FOR US. We've all waited this long, we can wait a bit longer.

Do you reffer to this thread?;

[PUBLIC PREVIEW] Aeon MQ 6 - Helix

http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=231179

(2015-07-04, 00:35)MarcosQui Wrote: Now it is official. As a had promised, I am publishing Aeon MQ 6 (Helix) version 2.4.0 beta 1 stable for all users.

ATTENTION:

1 - Be aware that it is a beta version, so there are still some thins that I need to be fixed.
2 - This version is destinated only to the users of Kodi Helix.
3 - This Helix version is unique and won't have updates.
The work on the skin continues, but only in version Isengard. Visit the brazilian forum to obtain more information: http://www.xbmcbrasil.net/

MarcosQui [PUBLIC PREVIEW] Aeon MQ 6 - Helix doesn't work well with Isengard.

Do you know why i know it?

Because i tried it even if it was not needed to know it as MQ6 developer stated in his own thread.

MarcosQui CLEARLY explained in point 2 that this public version ONLY works in Helix (Kodi 14) and in point 3 he stated it will not be updated [PUBLIC PREVIEW] FREE version and the work will continue for Isengard version ( CLOSED PAID version).

I have nothing against this free public skin version, it works as intented in Helix...and only in Helix.

It's a good showcase to see MQ6 running in Helix for people who can be interested to pay for it (call it "donate") to use it with Isengard.

scott967's Aeon MQ 5 Isengard works fine with....Kodi 15 Isengard.

Isengard 15.2 is very near so first Jarvis Beta version are not very far.

I'm very excited to see scott967's Aeon MQ 5 Jarvismod in action.

P.S.:

Please show some respect for people who doesn't insult you or others.

I will never say (or dare to say) you are a troll or an idiot even if you doesn't know the difference between optional donation software and paid software.

Even if you are not able to read the skin developer when he explains his [PUBLIC PREVIEW] Aeon MQ 6 - Helix ONLY works in Helix and will never be updated to work otherwise.

A DONATION is by definition ALWAYS OPTIONAL not mandatory to get something.

If it's MANDATORY to PAY this is NOT A DONATION.

Note: All I try to do is to keep MQ5 available as Kodi goes through its variations. I have no doubt MQ6 will provide many new and exciting features when it goes into GA. This way I and anyone else who enjoys MQ5 can play around with the new Kodi features. I offer no opinion on any one else's development and I am not interested in competing.

The only reason I said you were trolling is because of the OBVIOUS dig to the developer at the end of your post. Yes, It was released for Helix, but it also works on Isengard. Is it perfect? No. It's an ALPHA, not even beta. I know it's not going to be updated, and I and I'm sure others, are OK with that. Constant updates to a Helix version would make as much sense as developing one for Frodo. I've been using his skins since MQ2. I remember when the idea of a closed/limited beta program was introduced. People came to him and asked if they donated if they could get in on the beta. To me, it seems easier to test with a smaller group - get things about how you and they want things, then release it. Can you imagine how overloaded with requests and criticisms and complaints this board would be is released to everyone at large? It'd be impossible to keep up with for one person. This isn't Ransom-ware, or even payed freeware. It's up to you to participate. Are you upset that Marcos has a limited, let's say "invite only" beta period, or are you upset that people are willing to donate to be involved?

It's just frustrating, as a simple visitor to the boards, to click into a thread and find numerous posts bashing the developer for doing things the way they want to. Now, if were available for public release and we were expected to pay, then I would have a problem. I understand both sides of the argument, and while yes, I want it released too (then maybe I can get things to run the way are meant to), I'd rather have a complete and fully functional skin rather than something that needs an update twice a week.

Where is the trolling?

I simply thanked scott967 because he provide us a FREE Aeon MQ based alternative to official PAID skin for Isengard.

I'm not bashing MarcosQui decision to make Isengard version PAID.

This is his skin and his decision.

He can sell it at the price he wants and it's nice to have a preview version for Helix to see what we can enjoy if we PAY for the Isengard version.

Quote:Yes, It was released for Helix, but it also works on Isengard. Is it perfect? No. It's an ALPHA, not even beta. I know it's not going to be updated, and I and I'm sure others, are OK with that.

I agree with that but i prefer a better performing scott967's Aeon MQ 5 Isengard than a not fully performing [PUBLIC PREVIEW] Aeon MQ 6 - Helix trying to work in a Kodi version it's not intended to work (Isengard) and i'm sure others prefer it also.

A skin showcase ([PUBLIC PREVIEW]) to be used in an older Kodi version is fine but a fully functional skin (Aeon MQ 5 Isengard) for the actual mainstream Kodi version (Isengard) is better.

Quote:Are you upset that Marcos has a limited, let's say "invite only" beta period, or are you upset that people are willing to donate to be involved?

He (as developer) can do whatever he wants with his skin:

He can provide it as free software, paid software or even as free software with a donation option.

Never ending beta paid period and "donation software" who must be always paid to get access don't fall in the dictionary meaning of DONATE no matter how much you or others twist DONATE word definition.

It falls better in an other words definition: PAID SOFTWARE.

Obviously he can sell his software to whoever want to buy it but to call it "donate" software is not correct or true.

I agree.

If the developer name things correctly (as paid software not "donate") i'm sure this "donate" discussion will come to an end.

I have nothing against paid software: i buy it or not, there is no discussion point but mandatory "donation" it's a different story.

I have 2.4.0 and it works FLAWLESSLY from Helix through Jarvis(nightly) with NO issues. If there are problems, it's your setup and thus USER ERROR.

My point exactly. There is no "mandate" to donate. Do or do not. Use what is available and has been released. Or don't. It has been stated, time and time again, that when the skin is finished, it will be made available. To all.

I think, at least from what I've read numerous, numerous times, is that people are upset it's taking so long between versions. Well, Marcos took some family time (he's entitled to) so things got pushed back a while. Just because the skin is not released when it's convenient for you or me does not entitle us to attack or troll or complain. You say you agree that he, as developer and can do whatever he likes, then complain because he set a system in place where certain people (ie those who wish to or can support him with a small donation) get, and I cant stress this part enough, PRE-RELEASE access to his completed work and complain it's not available when you or I want it.

If troll was the wrong word, I apologize. But what would you call it? A "wake-up call"? An expression of opinion (with intent to question his motives)? A better way to have phrased it would have to just mention something like "... until the final version of Aeon MQ 6 is released." No derision, no (poorly) veiled insults. Just a statement. I for one am willing to wait because I think his skin is the best.

I think what Scott is doing is brilliant!! I was using his modded version before I switched to the alpha. I actually am looking forward to his and Angelinas' MODS for MQ6 when final release is out.

And sammarbella - Respect for helping to keep this a civilized discussion of two differing view points, and not letting this devolve to insults and barbs. Nod (My initial troll comment notwithstanding Sad)

Good for you. Blush

You must be using the skin parts who are still compatible with Isengard or Jarvis.

Right now i'm using scott967's Aeon MQ 5 MOD for Isengard (in Isengard) because the public preview Aeon MQ6 doesn't work properly in all instances in Isengard and i'm not going to pay for a "donated" GPL licensed software who act as an addon for a FREE GPL licensed software (Kodi).

This public preview skin version works to some extend on Isengard and even in Jarvis but there are several issues and incompatibilities in this public preview who prevent it to work 100% FLAWLESSLY in these Kodi versions.

There is no mistery in it: the public preview was not intented to work in different versions than Kodi 14 Helix.

Quote: If there are problems, it's your setup and thus USER ERROR.

Wrong, there are parts of the skin that don't work properly even in Helix and this will not be fixed (updated) as MarcosQui itself explained.

You can argue with me or others about the public preview flawless execution on Isengard or Jarvis but it will be a nonsense to do it with the developer itself:

I have no doubt the Aeon MQ 6 2.9.0 RC3 Isengard paid version fixed these issues for Isengard and the VIP ($$$) members in xbmcbrasil forums have access to the FLAWLESSLY experience you mentioned before.

If you are so sure that the Aeon MQ 6 (Helix) version 2.4.0 beta 1 works FLAWLESSLY with Isengard and even Jarvis you should tell MarcosQui as soon as possible about his wrong advices in the sticky thread where he posted this public preview version to be corrected.

I think we are discussing two different things:

- I understand that paying to have access to a specific skin version and call it a "donate" version is wrong because there is no donation part but OBLIGATION when it's mandatory to pay to get something.

- You understand that we should wait for a free public final version if we don't want to pay or accept to "donate" (MANDATORY PAY) to get a beta version who works properly on current mainstream Kodi version (Isengard).

I could be wrong on this but my guess is: a free Isengard Aeon MQ 6 version will be avalaible when Kodi 16.0 Jarvis final will be released so free avalaible version will always be one Kodi version lower than Kodi mainstream version been this reserved for "donated" (paid) skin version.

Everybody has a life out there and have the right to have it.

I suspect that what upset people is the feeling that the neverending beta/RC cycle and the fake "donate" label are setup to simply mask a bussiness decision to monetize the mainstream supported Kodi version skin.

As i understand if things were correctly labeled and explained nobody in the Kodi community users will can seriously be upset of his decision to code a paid software and sell it and the free one older Kodi skin version will be intended of what you will get if you pay for mainstream supported version.

A different story if this is done is how he will face the main Kodi project coders who are coding for free for a REAL DONATE GPL software and he sells for money his GPL'ed addon (skin) for...Kodi.

Awful English, my ass, LOL. You make a very cogent case. We were discussing different, albeit similar things. I get where you are coming from, I do. But, and I could be wrong, I think I remember reading that the skin will be (obviously) Isengard, but that Marcos is also working on making sure it works for Jarvis as well. If it's not fully ready, then, I would hope - and I have faith it will - be a short turn-around to get a fully working copy out.

Still, it would be nice to get an update, even if there isn't a timeframe attached as to release date. But either way, I'll still be waiting.

I asked a related question to this on 2015-02-24:

Quote:Looking at the development roadmap Kodi 14.2 is due in 5 weeks and Kodi 15.0 in 4 months.

Will be AeonMQ 6 available for Kodi 14.2 or we must wait for Kodi 15?

http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=...pid1938063

And Wanilton replied me the same day this:

Quote:MQ6 work fine in 14.2, is compatible with helix. Now Marcos is working in new views, new customization resources... Kodi 15 don´t have many changes affect skin. For now skin work ok in 14.2 or 15.

This is a new view available in MQ6 - 1.6.0

http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=...pid1938088

On 2015-07-04 (4 months and a week later) PUBLIC PREVIEW 2.4.0 beta 1 Helix (only) was freed:

http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=231179

And less than 3 weeks later on 2015-07-21 Kodi 15 Isengard was freed:

http://kodi.tv/kodi-15-0-isengard-one-re...-them-all/

So we enjoyed less than 3 weeks a free beta skin with the then mainstream Kodi version.

Now fast forward to the present 2015-09-27 there is still no free Aeon MQ 6 Kodi 15 Isengard version on sight been the closed version 2.9.0 RC3 working fine on Isengard AFIK.

Kodi roadmap indicates that final Isengard 15.2 is feature finished (100% tickets done) and about to be free and Kodi 16 Jarvis is due for 2015-12-30.

http://trac.kodi.tv/roadmap

So yes, there is still a chance we can get some weeks of free skin with the current mainstream Kodi version again untill Jarvis appear.

Maybe a miracle occurs and we will get a couple of months. Angel

P.S.:

I hope you are right and i'm plain wrong on this but the fact that there is an economic interest involved on this make me think the skin for the mainstream Kodi will remain paid only.

Well, let's see....ran beta 1 on Helix, then Isengard and NOW Jarvis....so yeah, it fucking works. Regardless of what you said or the developer said, I have it running with no issues and no modifications. If you can't download this and get it running, then yeah USER ERROR.

FLAWLESS execution is something very far to simply make Isengard or Jarvis run with a public preview beta skin for Helix in any state of execution.

I can dirt upgrade (upgrade on top...no uninstall/install clean) a Helix install with the public preview skin to Isengard and even to Jarvis but half menus are broke (no surprise).

Try to clean install Jarvis and then install public preview: no way doing it via zip install (it doesn't install) , you need to hack your way installing it manually to the addon folder (unzipping the skin zip there) and then you get a strange frankenbuild Jarvis setup.

Yes, Frankenstein was alive...but not very FLAWLESS.
