Hi All!,

First off, this is my first experience with Kodi on OpenELEC on the Raspberry Pi 2 (I am a long time Mythbuntu user), and I love the speed and look of it all!! Nice work!

Being that I am a rookie here, I am wondering if there is something I am doing wrong.

I have connection to the Mythbuntu back-end, and can open/run streaming TV and recordings without issues. But they are choppy at best, sometimes nothing but but stuck video and only audio, and frequently crashes (I have been only able to get one good stream going once).

Other streaming add-on's work greet, like YouTube, etc. So I am not thinking this is a hardware issue (plus all the posts i read said that RPi 2 can handle this without issues).

I have even tried a new power supply just in case, but to no avail.

I am on a wired network, and my other Mythbuntu boxes on the same network can stream from the same back-end without issues, both wired and wireless.

I am looking for any suggestions. Thank you all in advance for any assistance.

Extracts from kodi.log are not much help. Please upload full log to xbmclogs or pastebin and post the reference url in this thread.

Can you also provide information on:

Country
Mythtv backend version
Type of Live TV (DVB, ATSC), including brand names of the tuners.

But first please go into MythTV PVR Client addon Advanced tab and make sure "Include more debug information in the log file" is selected, then restart kodi, run your tests, then upload kodi.log.

Did you get the Mpeg2 license code and made sure its on ?

Did you ssh putty into it and If The Keys Are Enabled

If you are having issues with your licence there are some tests you can do to confirm if the licence is enabled or not.

SSH into your Raspberry Pi and run the below commands:
vcgencmd codec_enabled MPG2

I am a fool... i had no idea. my old Mythbuntu boxes never needed this...

I have just bought a copy and once the license arrives, I will give it a whirl.

I assume that since this is tied to the SN, that a re-install will not force a new license?

Likely this will fix my issues, but i will let you all know within 72hrs (time it will take for me to get my license )...

HI All,

License in and testing has begun. All things look good so far. MUCH better performance... Thank you!!

Recordings lag a little here and there, but seem to go away if I pause the video a few seconds then resume.

Is there a way to up the buffer size? I do not see this in the add-ons settings.

Also, is there a way to change aspect ratio easily in case I use this on a older tube TV and want 4:3 rather than 16:9. I am asking this here, as i am worried this could affect performance, so do not want to muddy waters too much... Or does this need to be done on the original recording? My older Mythbuntu boxes had a "zoom" and other aspect ratio features on the fly, so i am hoping to do the same here...

For zooming use the osd settings, while playing press OK button on your remote, navigate to the video icon, press OK and you will see options.

Quick addition to the 'lag' above. Looks like watching the video stats on the screen, the forward buffer 'B' goes form 100% slowly dancing down to 0%, video pauses while is refills to 100% then resumes. Any thoughts??

In the Mythtv Client addon Advanced tab there is an option "Enable demuxing MPEG-TS" . Try selecting it and restart Kodi. Note this does not always help but its worth a try, if it causes other problems just deselect and restart Kodi

Thanks! Is there a global setting for the aspect ratio rather then on each channel and recording?

Thanks Mike! This was already checked. I tried unchecking it to no avail.

You can go to the bottom of the dialog and set as default, but that will also affect non pvr stuff I think.
