Gapless audio playback on Raspberry Pi
#1
Hi,

I've got Kodi on two devices: a HTPC (normal intel i3 specced PC) running Ubuntu; and a raspberry pi with openelec installed. All of my media is on another box, and is streamed over SMB.

On the raspberry pi, there is a pause of perhaps a second or two between audio tracks. On the HTPC there is no gap between tracks whatsoever.

Is this due to the low specs of the raspberry pi, or is it an openelec problem which could be solved by installing linux & kodi on the rasp pi's sd card?

Thanks!

Raspberry Pi supports gapless for me. Make sure your system/audio settings are on default.
In particular output configuration must be on optimised for gapless to work.

Are you using HDMI or analogue audio?
What version of Pi are you using? Obviously a Pi1 may struggle more than a Pi2 or Pi3.
Where are playing the file from? Wireless may struggle more than wired.
What version of OE are you using? Note OE hasn't updated for a long time. An LE Jarvis or Krypton build may be worth trying.

Ah! OK, I didn't know there was an extra option for it - I'll have to have a look.
