Backend software and pvr clients for Hauppauge pc tuner?
#1
Can anybody recommend backend software and pvr clients that work well with the Hauppauge pc tuner and its WinTV application?  I currently have the following model installed in my pc:

Win-TV-HVR-850
model 1230

Just saw this.  I don't think there is anything that can use WinTV.  Is that even supported by Hauppauge anymore?  Assuming you don't have WMC on your system (I bought WMC for about $10 from MS to run on Win 8.1, though yesterday in Kodi I see no guide data so fired up WMC only to find out MS in its infinite wisdom stopped supplying EPG data for WMC).  So the windows alternative would be nextPVR.  Note that I just use ATSC/FM OTA from antenna so no cable card etc issues for me.

NextPVR v5 is multi platfrom not just Windows and although it doesn't use WinTV it is created by the author of WinTV so you can expect the same or better stability.

Thanks.  I guess I was just a hold-out on getting a schedules direct sub.

I got an old Dell pc that runs well on Windows 7 that still has WMC.  However, I got another pc that I use more than the Dell.  It's running on Windows 10 and I currently got the Hauppage tuner installed in it.

Thanks for your response Scott.  Would you happen to have a link where I could download the backend software from nextPVR?  Is it here in the Kodi forums?

I understand that epg123 uses guide data from Schedules Direct.  However, Schedules Direct requires a yearly subscription of $25.  My question is, can I still use epg123 without having to subscribe to Schedules Direct?
