Hi all,
New user here. I've been using Kodi for a few years without too much problems. But now I've bought a new LG TV, with a magic remote. With this remote, the CEC function (where you can control Kodi with your TV's remote) doesn't seem to work. It always worked on my 15 year old Sony TV.
I've googled around a bit, and it seems a lot of users experienced the same problem, but nobody has a real answer. Since it's been a few years since the last posts in these threads, I figure I'd ask again.
I've already enabled SimpLink (this is LG's name for HDMI CEC) in the menus.
I already tried the following suggestions I found online :
- Tried the Raspberry Pi + HDMI cable on a different TV : tried that on my old Sony -> works.
- Unplug the TV completely, then restarted -> didn't work.
- Unplug HDMI cable, replug, choose connections option, choose "other device" -> didn't work
I have a Flirc, but I really don't want to go that route.
Some other thing that might be important : every time I connect the Raspberry Pi/Kodi into the TV, the TV detects it as "Roku/ADB"
I know I can also use the Kore app to control Kodi. I actually do and it is indeed great. But there's also something to be said to be able to control it all via one remote instead of having to use a separate app.
I really hope somebody will have a solution for me, but I fear the real problem lies with LG.
Cheers!
