Something Broken with scraping as of last night?
#1
Hey all!

Something weird going on here.  As of last night around 9:00pm, no new movies can be added to my library.  The log file says it finds the file, but gives the typical error "no information found for item"

Nothing changed.  No Kodi updates, no changes to literally anything.  (No I didnt enable tags or anything like that)

Literally added a bunch of movies.  Scanned fine and added.  15 min later, added some more and get that error message.....

Using the Universal movie Scraper.   TV shows work fine.

Did IMDB bork something again or anything like that??

To receive meaningful assistance you will need to provide a full debug log.

The instructions are here... debug log (wiki)

If you are using the Basic Method, then ensure the following is applied...
1.Enable debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging,
2.Restart Kodi
3.Replicate the problem.
4.Upload the log to Kodi Paste Site manually or use the Kodi Logfile Uploader. (wiki) With either method post the link to the log back here.

If you are using the Advanced Method ensure you have correctly created and applied the advancedsettings.xml file (wiki)

In both instances, you should see the word DEBUG throughout the log.

Note: Full logs only. No partial or redacted logs
Do NOT post your logs directly into the forum. Use the Kodi Paste Site. Post the link to your pasted log in the forum

You might want to see this thread.   @Karellen can confirm from your logs if it is the same thing but I've been seeing lots of server busy messages from IMDB since early yesterday.

Only pertinent information from the log is that is cannot find any info on the selected file.  Means it cant hit the server.  Others have been reporting that there are IMDB timeouts recently.

Anyone else having the same issue using Universal Movie Scrapper with IMDB?

@apachehaovk It's scraper & scraping, not scrapper & scrapping. It's a tiny but significant difference.... : )

haha yes of course! Smile

Tried again before bed.  Still nothing.  Seems IMDB changed something Universal Movie Scraper is not working with.  Just so surprised this hasn't blown up!  I mean everyone using that scraper with IMDB (default setting) should be dead in the water right now...

Hello,
I confirm to date on Kodi v19.4 Android and windows no information provider works.
If it's a bug, it's general and applies to everyone.

Incorrect.
It works for me. I just finished scraping two movies.
No problems with TheMovieDB Python.

Ok so I went into that particular folder setting and removed anything from "ratings" related from IMDB to TheMovieDB!  Started working again!!!!!
Unfortunately there is no TMDB for "Plot Outline..."  Only IMDB which leaves it blank.
Something is completely broken if using Universal Movie Scrapper with IMDB..  It just wont grab and add the movie...

Karellen, question for your amazing expertise (you are great with lending us your knowledge my friend)  If I was to edit my settings and switch a movie folder to TheMovieDB Python, will it rescan and edit all my existing scraped movies or only forward with new movies added.  Just nervous about losing anything I already had scrapped working in that folder.  Thanks!

I don't use Universal Movie Scraper, but yes I tested it and it is broken.
@olympia, the developer will need to look at it, but he has not been around for a while, so it is unknown when this will be fixed.

If you need to scrape movies, then switch to The Movie Database Python scraper... https://kodi.wiki/view/Add-on:The_Movie_Database_Python

Maybe someone needs to write a Python version of UMS because XML scrapers are now too difficult to maintain.

Thanks so much for looking into it!  Last question.  So I have about 8TB of movies already scrapped.  If I just edit it right now to switch it to The Movie Database Python, will it leave my existing scraped info alone and only use The Movie Database Python for new movies I add into that same folder?  Thanks so much!!

Correct.
Changing scrapers, editing settings in scrapers etc only affects new items that are scraped. Existing items in the library are unaffected.

Thanks Karellen!  So TMDB Python is the gold standard now?  Gets everything needed?

I've been having issues as well. Sometime it works fine, other times not. I have a lot of movies and had to re-install Kodi a while back so have been going through them all fixing any missing / incorrect stuff. Today for example, a movie was the wrong one so i tried refreshing it and it just comes up with the "enter the movie name" bit. I deleted the movie and tried rescanning, at first it came up with the movie name at the top right scanning bit but didn't add it. Now when i scan it nothing is found - The only way to get it to be picked up (but still not added) is renaming it something different.

Does anyone know what the hell is going on? It's so damn frustrating.
