I have Kodi running on a 2012 Mac mini, which has a built-in infrared receiver. I control it via infrared with an old Harmony remote, but the Harmony buttons are failing and it seems they are exiting the remote business. The Harmony works when, in the Logitech software, "Device" is set as Computer > Media Center PC > Plex > Plex Player. It's complex to set up, but then it works.
I tried several "universal" remotes, checking Kodi's debug log to see of any button presses were showing up. Absolutely nothing.
Then I bought the Inteset INT-422-4, which is advertised in part as an "MCE/Kodi" remote. I tried the profiles for MCE/Kodi and for "Media Center PC". Neither resulted in any buttons being sensed by Kodi, although the Harmony buttons are. Inteset's response was they don't think it will work with an old Mac (unclear if it might if I disable the built-in IR and use their USB IR receiver).
In Kodi's settings, System > Input > Apple Remote, I tried setting the remote to Standard, Universal, and Harmony. Nothing worked, although the Harmony works with all those settings.
So my question, for anyone that has an old Mac with infrared (through 2014): what remote control have you found that actually works in full (other than the iOS Kodi remote)?
