The day all of us Aura(Mod) fans were dreading - official launch of Nexus/Kodi 20

Has anybody successfully had any version of Aura running? I tried Arctic Horizon and it's just not the same Sad I really like the Netflix look and feel of Auramod

I would have thought being such a popular skin, somebody would have ported or attempted to by now - it's well above my ability sadly.

My understanding is that thread is more about being in the official Kodi repo. Aura Mod was never there, and in fact no brain of Aura was officially released for Matrix - you could just build it following instructions from the Git.

This thread was meant to more be a discussion if anyone from the community was looking at doing similar

As of right now, I am running AuraMod on the Nexus v20.
I don't have anymore issues than I did on Matrix v19-20rc3.

So I don't understand why I keep hearing this:

Has anybody successfully had any version of Aura running?

This is the current situation with Aura and AuraMod:

Original Aura was made by jurialmunkey @   https://github.com/jurialmunkey/skin.aura
!!!which has since been abandoned.(quiet for years now: Mar 25,2020)

Aura v19 is being updated by kcook98765 over at @   https://github.com/kcook98765/skin.aura
!!!No work in a long time probably abandoned but Matrix v19 functional.(quiet since March,2022)

AuraMOD was originally created by skyfsza @  https://github.com/skyfsza/skin.auramod
!!!but has been abandoned.(for years now 2019?)

AuraMOD v19 is being updated by SerpentDrago(and others) @  https://github.com/SerpentDrago/skin.auramod
repo @   https://github.com/SerpentDrago/repository.auramod.aio
!!! SerpentDrago has walked away from the skin, and support is limited(basically just me) but functional for v19 and v20. (but quiet since June,2022)
(I do have some bug fixes that I've made, but I haven't released or compiled anything altogether just yet)

The only difference between Aura and AuraMod is AuraMod has Netflix modifications in ADDITION to the aura skin.
You can install AuraMod, and get it look pretty much the same as Aura. Just choose to use the Aura HomeStyle and not the Netflix Regular/Simple/Mixed HomeStyles.
Now over the years things have slightly changed between the two, but for the most part they are the same.

This is partially correct.
AFAIK Aura was NEVER in the official Kodi repo, I think I remember reading it was because of some addon the skin used to use or something?. idk
And AuraMod, being an almost literal copy with another skin inside of it also wouldn't be allowed.

Aura was never officially released for Matrix by it's creator, Jurial but like I posted above it was worked on to get it to work within Matrix. Bug free? No. lol but it works well enough.
Same thing with AuraMod, it's creator sky never released a Matrix version, but Serpentdrago and inb4after and others have worked hard to get a working Matrix version.

As far as AuraMod(because that's what I use) there are a couple issue reports of crashing happening, but switching from -v20 is causing those problems for some anyway.
They only real issue I've seen was something to do with languageinvoker: issue-post
But that could be mitigated by turning some settings off in tmdbhelper? But I'm not too sure which atm.

I have been spending pretty much all my extra time in the last month working on the AuraMod skin, trying to fix bugs.
The sad thing is I am very inexperienced at skinning and AuraMod is an absolutely huge skin, with modifications, customization's, and code that is now years old.
I am teaching myself while also fixing broken code, and breaking other code in the process lol. It's daunting.

IF ANYONE is willing to spend some time fixing some stuff or implementing code, please go for it lol
AT THIS POINT, if we don't all work together this skin will die

Please post issues/fixes to SerpentDrago's github: https://github.com/SerpentDrago/skin.auramod
(because that's where most of the other issues have been recorded)

Hi,

Here is a version that supports Omega : https://github.com/alexbelgium/skin.aura.../tag/Omega
I've opened a pull request here to embed the updated code in the main repo : https://github.com/SerpentDrago/skin.auramod/pull/289

Have fun!

Not being able to use auramod was the only thing stopping me from updating, thanks for the work.

One thing though, at the moment the skin doesn't seem to support the new Video Versions feature, it comes up in the context menu but selecting it does nothing.

The kodi Omega version doesn't work to install in kodi Omega 21.1

It says dependency problem.

Hello
@silahsor66, @Gorvak

The auramod skin is not a skin I have ever used. My area of interest is, for example, Titan MOD, but I tested the auramod skin on Kodi 21.1 Omega and it works without any major problems.

However, sometimes dependency issues may occur. So you can install the required dependencies manually. This means that we download the required dependency, e.g. from Github, and install it from the script.colorbox ZIP file:

https://github.com/BADMS/script.colorbox

Attention. Script.colorbox must be installed before installing the skin.

Fun fact.  While testing the auramod skin, I noticed that this skin is very similar to the Arctic: Zephyr 2 - Resurrection (AZ2:R) skin. However, this is not strange as both skins are derived from skins created by jurialmunkey.

As I wrote at the beginning, after installing the script.colorbox (dependency) zip file,  the auramod skin installs on Kodi 21.1 Omega without any problems...

Edit. The skin may require more dependencies to be installed. In this case, you need to download and install all the required dependencies from the zip file in Kodi (by downloading the required dependency as a zip file from Github,  one by one).
