Kodi 20, video breaks, skips frames
#1
I have installed the latest Kodi on my Sony Android TV (Android 9).
There is a huge performance issue caused by the subtitles.
When the video is HDR and I enable the subs the video breaks, looses frames, has shuttering, lots of it.If I disable the subs video runs smoothly with no issues.
I haven't noticed this problem on 1080p h264 videos.
I tested it with high bitrate videos too and with the subs on it shutters a lot, but not at all with the subs disabled.

Something is terribly wrong with the new subtitles implementation system.

To receive meaningful assistance you will need to provide a full debug log.

The instructions are here... debug log (wiki)

If you are using the Basic Method, then ensure the following is applied...
1.Enable debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging,
2.Restart Kodi
3.Replicate the problem.
4.Upload the log to Kodi Paste Site manually or use the Kodi Logfile Uploader. (wiki) With either method post the link to the log back here.

If you are using the Advanced Method ensure you have correctly created and applied the advancedsettings.xml file (wiki)

In both instances, you should see the word DEBUG throughout the log.

Note: Full logs only. No partial or redacted logs
Do NOT post your logs directly into the forum. Use the Kodi Paste Site. Post the link to your pasted log in the forum

I don't understand anything at all of all this techie things you copy paste in order to avoid answering about the bug I found. It is very simple and easy to replicate.Just use subtitles on an hdr video on an Android TV OS and see the problem. All this techie mambo jumbo things you are asking me to do sounds like a cheap excuse to avoid the problem.
I regret I decided to post here.

If you don't want to help us help you that's fine. We won't lose any sleep over it.

We always ask users to replicate their issues and provide a log because it is the most expedient way to provide support. Devs and team members have real lives and real jobs and do not have time to replicate every single issue.

We are all unpaid volunteers and the software we provide is free. You are not entitled to immediate "customer support", this is a community forum and project that relies on cooperation from users to improve the experience.
Always read the Wiki, FAQ and search the forum before posting.
Read/follow the forum rules.

As always: we do not possess a crystal ball. So you will need to come forward with a couple of tech details so we can at least have a clue where to look. The easiest way for that is the use the Kodi Log Upload add-on. Just click a few buttons, everyone can do that.

We wish it were so easy to replicate. This means using the EXACT same materials to recreate the very same problem. So you say "Android TV OS"... Which exact TV do you use, and which Android TV OS version does it run? Which precise video file, and where can it be obtained? HDR, which version? HDR10, 10+, something else? Which type of audio tracks are present.... EVERYTHING can be a factor that breaks your video.

So either your Kodi problem is not much of a problem after all..?
If this is about "certain streaming add-ons", then yes, we won't able to help.
If that is not the case, what is the real problem of you being unable/unwilling to provide the debug log (wiki)?
