#1
Manjaro: 22.0.3
Kernel: 5.15.93-1-MANJARO
Kodi: 20.0-3
Hardware: Intel 7 Gen NUC (also crashes on a AMD system)

Kodi crashes on some videos. In at least one case, crash arises at the same point 30 mins into the video. In another case, it crashes at the start of the video.

does it still crash if you disable subtitles?

Yes, I disabled subtitles and the problem videos still crash Kodi.

Update: Kodi still crashes if I disable the subtitles.

However, when I removed the subtitles from the original MP4 file, it plays cleanly without crashing.

It also plays fine with subtitles if the subtitles are in a separate .srt file versus being muxed into the MP4.

Thank you wsnipex for helping narrow this down.

It's still a problem for me since I have a few hundred MP4's with muxed subs.

Can you could test if this still happens with kodi git master? If yes, you should open a issue on github and provide samples to reproduce

Many thanks. The good news is I have been able to extract a 10 second clip using ffmpeg to a small MP4 that exhibits the problem.

As for kodi-git, is it reasonable/helpful to install kodi-git from the Arch User Repository (AUR)?

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/kodi-git

It appears to be quite up-to-date. Or do I need to build from sources (which will take me a while)?
