ServerWMC addon not closing streams
#1
Hello,

First... Thank you for the great software!

I recently switched back to WMC for recording over the air TV, as it's the only software that can deal with my local channel's strangeness.

Recordings and live TV are working to my Windows and Android (Fire TV) Kodi Nexus clients, aside from one issue - when I watch live tv, then select "stop" in Kodi, ServerWMC's GUI still shows that it is streaming live tv.  This ties up the tuner and no other clients can use it until I restart serverWMC or close the kodi instance that started the live stream.

I checked the log, and it looks like ServerWMC is getting a client request of "CloseStream", which it doesn't recognize and throws an error:

2023/02/21 15:06:56.289 ProcessClientRequest> ERROR: client command not found: CloseStream

On a hunch (because I used this addon years ago without issue), I downloaded Kodi 18 and tried it, and it seems to send a client request of "CloseLiveStream", which works as intended.

Both the working and non working commands should be in the log below:

Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure what is going on either, but try this:  In serverwmc go to the "live tv" tab and uncheck all of the "Steam live channels using DLNA to:" checkboxes, currently you have two of them checked.  I can't recall for sure,  but to be safe, restart serverwmc after you make this change.

Thanks for replying!

I wasn't able to uncheck the checkboxes for some reason, so I edited the config file so that it now reads:

<UseDLNAChannels_MBS>false</UseDLNAChannels_MBS>
<UseDLNAChannels_Kodi>false</UseDLNAChannels_Kodi>
<UseDLNAChannels_Plex>false</UseDLNAChannels_Plex>
<UseDLNAChannels_GameEx>false</UseDLNAChannels_GameEx>

I then restarted and confirmed that the checkboxes were unchecked in the GUI.  Unfortunately, no change, and same message in the logs.

Thanks again for your help.

Yeah, never mind.  I did some more investigation.  This is a bug with the matrix version of pvr.wmc.  That's why going to older versions of kodi fixed it.  I'll need to figure out what to do about it.  Strange that no one has caught it until now.

Yeah, thanks for pointing out this bug.  You should also find that closing kodi kills the live streams too.  Its weird that no one had caught it until now because its a nasty bug.  I'm not sure how to fix it, since my ability to make changes to pvr.wmc doesn't exist currently.

Yep, closing Kodi does work to kill the streams as well.

I have no idea what other side-effects this might cause, but if you can't update pvr.wmc right now, would updating ServerWMC to recognize "CloseStream" be a workaround?

Yeah, maybe.  Its those side-effects I am worried about too.
