Just bought a new 2023 Sony 4K Android TV.
Installed kodi 20.2, maximum (only) display setting is 1920x1080.
I also have a Nvidia Shield pro connected with HDMI, also with kodi 20.2, here the resolution can be set to 2160P.
I tested with pressing "O" on the keyboard, and the kodi on my TV plays 1080P, kodi on my Shiels plays 2160P.
Any solutions?

not all android based OS provide native 4K to apps, sounds like this is just "another" one of those

stick with shield, it's built to be a streamer instead of being a marketing ploy by a TV manufacturer

Check the debug_log (wiki) to be sure. Android TV is limited to a 1080p GUI (perhaps Nvidia have changed this for the Shield) however video playback should be 4k, it could be what you're seeing reported is only the GUI limitation, the log will tell you for sure what resolution is being used for playback.
