#1
Hi, kodi21 on win10 64, I can't make them work, I've tried any possible combination, the media aren't in library and I can't add them anyway. I've created simple playlists and working, smart and party mode always empty trying add medias/playlist, why this is so complicated??

You got me there... Never thought of Kodi as complicated. Check out First time user (wiki) or just click on the WIKI top left of this page. The first screen on installation and execution, brings up a screen to ask you to point at your movies, that's pretty simple. "created simple playlists" wow you're pretty ahead of the game here. Lots of information in the Tips & Tricks area of this forum. Smart playlists (wiki)

Suggest you stick to the guidelines, wiki (a user manual) , until you are fairly familiar with the software. Genuine issues are entertained in this forum accompanied with a proper debug level posted to a public paste-bin indicating the issue, and that URL posted here with some information about your hardware equipment and connections.

Then Smart Playlists won't work.
Smart Playlists are a library feature, and only works with library items.

Yes, the first step for using these features is to create a "library", which is a catalog-like database Kodi builds when a user designates a folder tree "source" for media and defines the type of media files contained in that source, and then has Kodi scan the source (by default recursively through all sub-folders).

thank you for answers, then problem is that Kodi wont consider pictures for smart playlist, it works only with music and music videos, this is really a pity and a limitation, imho.
Also pity is that Kodi doesn't warning about that, you may loose hours trying to build up a smart playlist, Kodi won't notificate any error or limitation that can help you giving up with that.

Yes there are limitations, as Kodi is a work in progress and developed by volunteers, a posting in the feature request area might spur action. Why not give us an idea of what you are trying to achieve, perhaps there is a better way of handling your needs while still utilizing Kodi.

Smart playlists for audio & video collections in the library are it's strength.
