MacOS (on my Mac mini 2018) is fundamentally capable of displaying HDR material. For this, there is a dropdown menu in the System Preferences under Display Settings. Currently, I have both SDR and HDR video content. I've tried leaving the display settings on HDR, and while the results are mostly decent, (too) many TV shows and movies in SDR look absolutely awful. So, this isn't a viable solution in my view.
Is there any way to get macOS to automatically switch between SDR and HDR (and back again), depending on the video format required at the moment? Of course, I am referring to playback in Kodi. 😉
If you have another solution I am open to suggestions. 😊
