Thumbnail bug
#1
Hi
I'm using XBMC Atlantis Beta 1. I added al my movies directories to my map, and it finds all of them. It also find all information about the movies (Director, writer, studio, genre, ...) But it does not download/show thumbnails :S
Why is this ? Is this a bug ? Or did I accidentally disabled an option so it doesn't download thumbs ? (if so, where can I enable it again ? I searched for it, but didn't find it Confused)
(I have the same problem for tv shows)
I checked, and the media source is correct (How can it be wrong ? It downloads the information just fine, just not the thumbnail)
Thanks a lot ! Big Grin

Grab the new scrapers from svn. Navigate from:

xbmc.svn.sourceforge.net/

(branches/linuxport/XBMC/system/scrapers/video)

Ok, I downloaded that, replaced my old files and made it scan everything over again.
It is NOW scanning, but it still doesn't show any thumb for the newly scanned movies... Still only gives the movie information, but no thumb...
Thanks

I've tried some more stuff, reinstalling (with freshly downloaded install) (both using the old scrapers, and the new ones); also I tried deleting all the downloaded movie information, then deleting the sources, and adding them again, and then letting it download all movie information again.
None of it worked, please help me.
Thanks a lot !

Exactly the same problem....It downloads information but no thumbs...or, perhaps the thumbs are downloaded, but not shown...

Oh, one more thing...xbmc creates another user for me where everything is downloaded to. I have a scandinavian letter in my name. Could this be the problem? The app folder that is created when xbmc is installed, is empty. When I download info, it should be placed there, but goes to the "new" user....

Where was the problematic name? A XBMC profile name or a Windows profile name? I assume latter one from your report.

@jmarshall: Looks like we don't use filehd or hdirectory for thumbs loading? Could you point me to the right place to look at?

Yay...it was my name in windows that made all the mess. My name is Bjørn, and xbmc created a new "user" called Bj#rn...and downloaded everything there...but it seemed like xbmc didnt find it back...

Now I am really enjoying this product Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin

@WiSo
Here's my logfile, I added both the xbmc.log and the xbmc.old.log http://cmdstud.khlim.be/~jbollansee/pablo/XBMC/

Also I want to say that my WINDOWS name is: "Pablo Bollansée" so it has a 'special' letter (é), maybe this is the problem ?
Yet, when I first installed XBMC (an older version then I have now) I didn't have the thumb problem so...
Also, if this is the problem, how can I change the location where XBMC get's it's thumb from ? (and where should it be normally ? Tongue)

Have to say that I use Vista...and when I enter the C:users.... I found two users... copied from one user to the other one, but , no luck. Now my name is plain and simple...and works like a charm...

For now it's better to use no special characters in the profile name or start XBMC without the -p flag (won't work on vista).
Some of the third party libraries aren't UNICODE safe and not able to work with special chars.

@WiSo
You mean no special characters in the XBMC profile name ?
Because I don't have that, I'm just using the Master User in XBMC.

What does teh -p flag do ? (I removed it, but I didn't see any change so...)

And which libraries do ARE unicode safe ?

Thanks !

This should be fixed in r15765.

The libraries are quite happy working in unicode - the problem was the path to the userdata location was not guaranteed to be in unicode.

Jonathan
