only half remote controls available after selecting a movie
#1
My remote only shows half of the available controls at times. The following are the steps I take to recreate this.

With the remote control open and all buttons displaying correctly go to:
movies > select a movie > hit play symbol at top right of screen > hit play from pop-up options > hit remote button at top right of screen

And I only get half the buttons.

To get all buttons back from this screen:

Swipe left takes me to the previeous screen > swipe left again > swipe left again, takes me to movies list > hit remote button at top right of screen

And its working again.

How can I fix this so that I get all the controls on the remote regardless of which screen im in when I hit the remote button?

First, let me explain what happens. Then let's see what I can do about it.

Background:
On iPhone the app has two remote screen types:
  1. Full screen remote. This is the one which has all buttons. You reach from main menu, or via the remote icon from every menu -- except the NowPlaying screen.
  2. So-called "embedded" remote. This is the one which uses reduced set of buttons. This is only reachable from the NowPlaying screen (either by tapping the remote icon, or by swiping the NowPlaying screen left). This reduced remote is maintained because a simple swipe while being in NowPlaying is a simple way to reach it. The play control buttons are removed for historic reasons (there was not enough space left on older devices with smaller screens), and the NowPlaying screen anyway has the play controls.
Workaround for you:
Workaround for now is to leave the NowPlaying screen and then enter the remote.

What I can do:
  • I see your point in tapping the remote icon should always go to the same (full) screen. Only swiping could go to the embedded remote screen.
  • I will review the space situation again. But this is not a simple task as I do not want to end up with unusable embedded remote for some devices.

Well that’s fair enough. Thanks for taking the time to explains this. I have never noticed this before and thought it was a glitch. I’ve havnt had my theatre room setup for about 5 years so I thought it was glitch.
Thanks again.
