Can deinterlacing be enabled when mplayer plays certain types of files? I have added a videoextension of .tp to accommodate HD video generated by BeyondTV, and it plays, but there are significant 'comb' artifacts when playing the videos.

When I use VLC to play the files, I have to enable deinterlacing to straighten it out.

No, only Xbox can use mplayer for anything. There's no mechanism for per extension settings at this time either.
