I tried installing Kodi from Google Play, then went on to the website to download a bunch of versions, but nothing works. I manage to open up Kodi and it asks for permissions, after being granted, it just goes to a black screen and crashes.

Any suggestions, please?

It's a file permissions issue.....

Go into settings --> search for Permissions -->  Look at App Permissions -->  file access -->  turn on Kodi file permissions.
