I am still learning the details of dolby atmos vs Dolby TrueHD 7.1 Atmos, so my question might be terribly confused. I had some questions that I was hoping i could find help with here. I have a new Atmos setup, receiver and speakers. But I am curious what Kodi supports and what I should see as a streaming format on the receiver. I think equipment is indifferent, but it is a Sony receiver that supports Atmos. What makes me curious is from the Apple TV with Atmos movies, the receiver will show Dolby Atmos as signal as expected. From Kodi all I ever get is a 7.1 PCM signal. I am streaming Blu Ray Rips from DVDFab, i can tell that all that are on these blu rays are TrueHD 7.1. Are blu rays capable of having Dolby Atmos and not Dolby TrueHD?

There's a whole thing here about atmos being object based vs truehd being 7.1pcm based, idk, not sure i get it.
But the two are clearly not the same, it seems the object based Dolby Atmos would be superior based on particular speaker position?
