Hi you all,
This might have been answered some where here, I've looked around a bit but haven't been able to find an answer. I've just bought an Asus eee 1501, that one is based on the Atom N330 and the ION chipset for graphics.
I've been expereimenting a bit with different media players to find the best.
I've found that the best one to handle all the formats is XBMC.
I first tried running it under Win7, but that had problems with performance when playing 720p (mkv) material. I then understood that this was due to that it doesn't use hardware acceleration for the rendering.
I then heard that the Live version would utilize hardware acceleration. I've now experimented with that a while and am still having problem. It sort of lags and gives an uneven frame rate when playing 720p. I've tried all the different rendering options with the same result.
Is this setup at all supposed to be enough for 720p in XBMC Live?
I'm running 720p inside Win7 using Media Player Classic, and that handles the resolution without stuttering, how ever with a much more primitive environment.
Iv'e been running by booting from the CD. Would it affect the performance if installing it on a USB memory? As far as I understood the downside of CD booting is only that I can't save settings.
I've been running the 9.0.4.1 r20654 version. Would it help to try the latest beta release?
I would really like to be able to use XBMC as the only media player due to that it really feels like the best solution.
So I would appreciate all the tips you could give me.
