Hi,

Im trying to find the right hardware to run XBMC on, please see below my requirements.

1080P Hardware Solution Requirements;

Pre-built System (I could make my own but i cannot find a case small and attractive enough)
Quiet
Compact
Dual/Quad Core Processor
Windows Based (might switch to linux later)
4gb Ram - 2gb Ram Minimum
Blu-Ray/DVD Reader


As you can see i have listed a Blu-Ray player as a requirement because the only one i have at the moment is in my PS3 which i wish to move so i need to replace it. I know i could buy a standalone player but if possible i would like to combine this requirement and have a single media centre soltuion.

If possible can you give me some suggestions.

And when you say small case, do you mean short (like a dvd player?) shallow (fits on shelf), just smaller (like a little cube) or tiny like the size of a wii or something?

thnaks for the links but they are to big.

Small can either be a small cube like the D-Link Boxee or something along the line of a sky box or DVD player as the maximum size i would wish to go to.

Any more suggestions would be aprechiated.

If you like to switch to Linux sooner rather then later, you might want to grab yourself an ION based nettop like ASRock ION 330 and install XBMCLive on it. It plays everything including 1080p... nearly everything, there is no Linux player for BluRays...

edit: After havinig a look at the links above... the ASRock is even WAY cheaper and you have your PS3 for BluRays.

Not to ignore the_aliens posts but I would guess that someone asking about a dual/quad core is not interested in an atom.

A Dell studio hybrid is about the only prebuilt that could come close to being that small and still having a non-atom dual core.

But crappy graphics and still over $750 after a blue ray and adding a bit more memory.
