i am using a wlan and it is a bit slower browsing my folders when i have id3 tag enabled. when i disable it, to speed-up browsing my mp3s, it no longer displays the id3 info while playing. later builds of xbmp display the id3 tag info from an mp3 while playing, regardless of the setting in setup. can you make xbmc like this please.

if i do have id3 tag enabled, i notice that the tracks are sorted alphabetically instead of by track #. is there a way to sort folders by track # first, then alphabetical (if track # not exist) ?

thank you.

you can do a scan (my music songs) on your remote share, then every song is stored in the local database. so everytime you enter a remote directory or play a song, the tags are read from the local database. further id3 tag reading can be disabled then. also you can switch the view and get your files sort by album, artist etc.

it takes hours to scan. if i add one or two more albums to my collection, does it re-scan everything again or does it quickly skip-by already done albums/songs?

although the suggested use of the database feature provides similar results this was not exactly what i requested.

xbmp displays the id3 tag info when playing a song regardless of whether or not id3 tag display option is enabled/disabled. since xbmp has this, i presumed that maybe it was something that was overlooked/forgotten in xbmc (xbmp never used to do this and it is a more recent feature).
