is it a thru ac3 passthru in xbmp? it seams like it dont get out of sync as much anyways...

i use the 2003-12-05 release of xbmp now. did you do that?
some one at x-s, called monkeyh0, claims to be the developer of booth xbmp and xbmc... and if its so, why just fix audio out of sync in xbmp but not in xbmc?

strange cus a have ac3 sync issues in xbmc 12-11 release...

well maybe its your video that has the problem  i can play [kaa]_noir_05.dvd(ac3-5.1)[5c0bc733].avi without any av sync issues.  also i can play nge-remastered_ep25[a2000a][divx-ac3][94056d38].avi

duration 23m 22s
bitrate 448kbps
audio ac-3 acm decompressor
video frame rate: 23fps
data rate 192kbps
video sample size 24bit
video compression divx
without any problems
